yes Breezey ,safe from floods,Adelaide is a long way from Queensland ,my sister lives in north Q safe from the floods, she said 'thank god water doesn't flow uphill, considering 75% of the state is affected she's lucky.we have 24/7 news reports, so sad, lives have been lost, many still missing , thousands of homes, businesses, farms, mines ,nursing homes, schools ,many entire towns under water.just roughly comparing on my world globe, could be about 6 of your states.the people are doing their best, and through their tears you can see their determination to carry on.cleaning up will be a huge problem, sewage and other filth mixed in with the water, disease carrying mosquitos, houses have to be safe for electricity to go back on , snakes in the rafters, as many as 20 in one house, and possibly,or more likely probably, more bodies. i really think i couldn't cope with all that.and ofcourse insurance doesn't cover floods ....

I try to comprehend the magnitude of it all and really can't. So many people! So many homes and business! That is so awful for anyone to have to go through... and those who lost loved ones, it's got to be so hard to carry on.
Cleaning up.... That sounds like a monumental task. What happens to all the people who had homes totally flooded out?
Insurance... sorry, but I always felt it was to make money and they never want to use it for the "intended" purposes... people who need help for their homes.

people are encouraged to help each other out ,and countless many are doing so, there is a lot of debris to get out of the houses, broken beds mattresses, white goods, some of it looks like a bomb has hit the place. looters are facing 10 years jail, and so they should ,when some one has already lost almost everything to have what little remains stolen ,looters would be the lowest life form on earth.like you i feel the magnitude is overwhelming ,i havent seen a diagram of the affected areas on the map, but 75% is enormous. The whole country will be feeling this ,food prices, especially fruit and veg will go up a lot,i just hope those greedy supermarkets and others mongrels wont take advantage and profiteer out of the peoples misery, but big conglomerates are not exactly known for having heart.i don't mind at all paying extra if it goes where it should. It all has a very sobering effect and helps to put things in perspective,i was anoyed because a calendar that was sent to me got wet from rain, then i remembered ......

Looters.... I know there is always someone trying to take advantage of others and their misfortune, but gee! Don't they have enough going on that looting would be last on their minds? I have seen videos where people don't seem to care what's going on... disaster... and are breaking windows and stealing.... what possesses people?!
Stores will most likely take full advantage of raising prices... as well as anyone else who could make a profit off it all. Really sad that disaster is an opportunity for some.

A wet calendar seems so inconsequential when you know what's happening to so many... kind of gives a new perspective to things.

taking about perspective to things, my son was in hospital with burns to his back and arms and even needed skin grafts in one area... i had a fat splatter on my hand, blister the size of a large pea. and i was telling him how it HURT !!he has a very dry sense of humour and just said 'awww....that must hurt' !!!

Yeah... I can see your son being very understanding about that! lol Sometimes, we just don't give it a thought.
My sister is now alone since her husband died... her married son was complaining how lonely it is when the house is empty... he didn't think she understood... she said at least he knew his family was returning. I think he might have gotten the point.

it is receding, clean up time, looks like a war zone,i think it was 75 cities and towns affected.
now 2000 people in Victoria are evacuated, due to flooding, not sure if it's the flow from Q or a new one.

Wow! So hard to imagine that much! Any idea what kind of help will be offered for clean up and homes?

So...since Victoria is evacuated, it's not really over yet?

On a personal level... I know what it's like to lose my home and everything in it... but, I still can't imagine what it's like for so many people! Neighbors help each other, but so many are just as bad off as others! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
