do you have a favourite book or author ?

Post by roxanna on Mon Feb 21, 2011 1:46 am

one of my favourite authors is Mark Twain.
I like the short stories, sepecially the one of Adam and Eve, when Adam walked to the top of a far away hill, in order to reach the stars, and bring some back for eve to put in her hair.Adam was the first romantic !!
and after they were banished from the garden of Eden, he said he would rather be out of the garden with Eve, than be in it without her .first ever true love ? heart

Hi, Rox! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I do have several favorite authors ! I LOVE! Mark Twain, for instance. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
My favorite short story from (by?) him is "Innocents Abroad" .
It is roll-on-the-floor-funny !
I "guess" [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] my favorite Favorite-Author is
Rex Stout. I love [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] his "Nero Wolfe" series.
There are 126 novels in it. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Stout also wrote serveral other
novels, a couple of which have the same main characters...
(differnt "main characters" [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] - in that the main character
isn't Nero Wolfe or Archie Goodwin, I mean.) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I love Nero and Archie !
Stout is a dead-even with John Grisham.

Grisham is brilliantly readable, I think.
(I know; not ^ an "original thought" - even critics love him !
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] !
A singular experience for me... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Also Patricia Cornwell, John Patterson, Tom Clancy ...
(Clancy not-so-much as some of the others, but he's good!)
I like "Jack Ryan"... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I also am very fond of James Patterson, and the authors who write
similar-type books.
Also, I really l
He is funny and ...well... literate! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Oh
! And Jeffery Deavers! Great! plots and bad guys!
*brrrr-shudder* [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Favorite book.... God On a Harley. I read that book almost ten years ago.. at my class to get my HSED. Kim, my teacher, knew I loved that book and gave it to me. She also gave me the next one in line... Heaven in High Gear. Now, those two books are my favorites. I just loved how God was portrayed so differently... that he could be anyone you met, not just one form or way. Joan Brady wrote those books and I guess there is one more I didn't know about.
Otherwise... Stephen King, V.C. Andrews (when she was alive and actually wrote them) and a few Ja'aj has mentioned.
Off to find the third book to that series now. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Quite a few good books here !! i'll have to start reading again!!
i also like James Mitchner,i lived through his books the times and places and people he wrote about.part of the reason i was such a lousy house wife was i tended to read about farflung places and exotic people ,there was not much time left for scrubbing moping etc.....oh and i also liked good scifi, IMHO .
Ray Bradbury, Kurt Vonegut and a few others.

Rox, [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Logically... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] "Adam" is likely to have been the "first" most-anything, huh? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Although... I feel that 'man'-kind could have done very well without Cain's FIRST.
"first murderer" . . . ? Not-so-much. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
It amazes me that "we" weren't SCRAPED! right then; out of hand.

I think it's a sweet and very kind "take" on us. (Twain's story, I mean.)

Snookums Snookums, [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Thank you ! for reminding me - I really ! want to read those books!
I forgot! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
NOW maybe (?) I can remember long enough to actually
acquire a copy so I can read ! them.

I agree - I really like concepts of God as someone I (we?) can relate to,
cuz the "all-powerful" thing is kinda daunting.
(Ya think?!?) Yeah, well... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I think you know what I'm trying to say. I hope. (I been sick, ya know...)
"Human" seems to make the whole concept much less frightening and God
much more "real" and accessible for me.
(That's why I enjoyed "Joan Of Arcadia" so much !)
The [T.V. series] show portrayed God as someone who appeared to
and talked with Joan as an everyday "person".
('Joan' certainly must have felt that way) - She YELLED at Him -
a LOT... ! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Too funny!
("It's a perfect Plan, Joan ; go with it.")
