do you mean actually make the pasta?
I have tried that, but I get impatient kneading the dough, but it is totally different to what you buy ,much better tasting and softer.

Yes, actually make the pasta. smile2 I won't be buying any from the store again.
Only thing I may do is invest in a simple device for making different kinds... or not... still working on that. lol

It is most definitely better! smile2

They were beautiful? Did she cut them herself or have some helpful tool?

Breezey, I just googled 'home made pasta' and there is a mine of info and pictures,I can't post it, but there is one that you turn by a handle ,it makes the sheets and cuts the pasta sheet into noodles,of various sizes,I have seen an Italian lady use it,seems simple enough it's quite inexpensive.

There it is! smile2 That is what I have in mind. lol
There are many different kinds and sizes here. Some are not so bad.. price wise, but the reviews for them are not always so good.
I have been cutting them by hand and get better at it each time. smile2 I made some ahead and will be making a sauce for them today.
If I ever buy a machine like the one you posted, it will be because it's a decent price and not made with cheap parts either inside or outside.

Roxanna, I was surprised at how easy it is to make pasta. A little time is not so bad either.
If you were closer, you'd have to get in line and wait your turn! lol

I never had pasta made from scratch; I've always used the kind made from wheat. Where can you buy scratch?

I haven't had a chance to even BUY it! lol
I plan on finding a store that has a good one, not a cheap one that will fall apart soon.

Yes.
A very long time ago when my brother was married. He and Carolyn
made EVERYthing from scratch. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] White and wheat bread, pasta,
OH ! - and egg noodles - (you will find that you must incorporate
egg noodles into this... endeavor...) and the rest of us go sucked into the
... fun. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

there is a lot of scratch-ing going on in my chook yard....but nothing you'd want to make pasta with....unless you count the eggs....

A couple of updates...
I started out using a pasta cutter... something like that one I posted, but not exactly. And I got really good with cutting fast! lol
Recently, I was gifted a pasta machine.. manual crank, but still... a real handy work of wonder! lol
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
No more rolling dough with a rolling pin and this one will also cut pasta into spaghetti or fettuccine. It's all I need. smile2 And.. it works!
I also make ravioli with a simple ravioli maker...
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Very basic, but works well! smile2

Basic often works best, as there is less to go wrong.
