This one really gets to me....


How does legalizing abortion correlate with plummeting crime rates?


Yahoo answers somewhat surprised me and also gave me "indigestion". 


If it's so true about the correlation of abortion and crime rates, what does that say about our society, morals.... what not?

Ugh. My best guess off the top of my head would be that some people are making the assumptions that, number 1, if abortion is legal, there would be no unwanted children, which obviously is not true, because many people who have unplanned pregnancies don't have abortions, and number 2, that an unwanted child would be more likely to lead a life of crime.

I can see huge holes in both of these arguments; plus; abortion has been legal here for over 40 years, and yet the crime rate from the early 70's through the early 90's actually increased, before tapering off and then decreasing. A big part of that increase in the 80's and 90's was due to the crack epidemic, which shouldn't have happened if either of the previous assumptions were true.
