What's the point of a bucket list?

Post by Breezey Breezey on Fri Jul 15, 2016 12:27 pm

To me, it's like seeing what I don't have and not what I do have. It reminds me of resolutions that we feel pressured to keep...and many times don't or can't.

I thought a bucket list was more about things you want to do or see before you die, rather than things you'd like to have.

I don't have a bucket list, but if I did, a few things on my list would be to see the Grand Canyon, the Acropolis, The Amazon, to ride in a hot air balloon,...

Yes, it's about things to do....many times, because people can't do them or afford to do them. Still, to me, seems to be looking at what isn't instead of what is.
I don't have a bucket list either. A hot air balloon has always been something I thought would be neat, but it wouldn't make a list of "must do". I don't think there is much of anything I'd add to a bucket list... unless it was something very dear to my heart...

Isn't your whole life a bucket list? ... if you are living your life doing what you enjoy doing?

I can honestly say that I have no great desire to "Tick things off a list". Life is for living now..
to do the things I can at the time I can.

Another thing about a bucket list that I don't think a lot of people consider is, what happens when you get to the end of the list?

Tater, I think the idea is to get to the end of the list and say you did it all.
I'd rather not say I did it all and not have a list. There are things I've done that I never thought I would and if I had made a list...I might never have even tried. I like going with what comes my way. lol

My point was that if you get to the end of the list, you have nothing left to do.
