Is there anything you wish your parents had taught you?

Post by Breezey Breezey on Mon Oct 24, 2016 11:14 pm

I wish my mom had taught me how to cook and use the sewing machine. So many things I didn't learn until a lot later in life... things that could have been useful for daily life/

I know how to use an iron, but that doesn't mean I actually use it. My mom has a sewing machine, but I wouldn't be able to use it if my life depended on it. I can use a needle and thread in a pinch, but it's not going to be pretty!

There are a lot of those things in the land of the lost here... lol... forever to remain... and if they surface at some stage, they will soon become lost again.

Did your parents try to teach you about relationships and what to look for as signs of good or bad when getting to know someone?
It wasn't really ever brought up in our home... and I am pretty sure it should have been.

I don't think my parents even knew that for themselves. There were a lot of things that were left unsaid that probably should have been addressed.

My parents didn't try to teach me about relationships... but I sure learnt a lot of what I didn't want from watching them. ):

Well, I only had my mom, but I think one thing she taught by example is to do whatever it takes to keep your children with you.

And yet... the "assumption" is all women are great mothers..that they automatically love and care for their children.
I have seen women who didn't care at all about their children. Makes me glad my mom did her best to keep us all together. smile2
