Have you learned a new word today?

Post by Breezey Breezey on Fri Aug 20, 2010 12:34 pm

I learned "jumbuck".

Roxanna, I'll bet you know this one. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Jumbuck is an Australian term for [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], featured in [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]'s poem "[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]." It generally denotes a difficult to shear sheep, either large or untamed.

Thanks for the new word!
Here's another:
Word of the Day: prevernal
Pronunciation: /pree-VUR-nul/
adj : of or pertaining to the transition period
between winter and spring
"The dandelion and crocus are prevernal flowers."

Maybe! Wonder what's the word for the transition period between summer and fall? lollipop
Can you tell that I am tired of this summer heat?
I'm ready for the fall! Bring it on!
